    Comment Un phénomène majeur de la dégradation des habitats concerne la pollution des milieux naturels (Hunter Jr and Gibbs 2006; Primack 2006). Ce type de dégradation est généralement subtile et difficilement détectable, et prend sa source dans des activités humaines comme l'agriculture et l'industrie. Les polluants les plus négatifs pour la biodiversité impliquent les produits utilisés dans l'agriculture que sont les pesticides, insecticides, fongicides et herbicides. Parce qu'ils sont utilisés pour éradiquer la faune ravageant les cultures ou la flore compétitrice des espèces cultivées, ces produits sont développés pour détruire des populations d'espèces vivantes avec la plus grande efficacité.
